Making a slideshow is very easy thanks to our “Smoothgallery” plugin.
There are two different ways to do it:
1. IF SOME OF YOUR PHOTOS ARE SEPARATE, AND OTHERS ARE PART OF THE SLIDESHOW:
See the live example if you are logged into HKStories here.
First, you need to put the photos for your slideshow IN A NEW FOLDER, inside your main photo folder. You can create a new folder using the same interface that you used to upload photos.
Once you have created the folder, go to where you want the slideshow and type:
{smoothgallery folder=images/stories/08fall/YOURNAME/FOLDERNAME}
Like this:

The final result looks like this:

NOTE that in order for your captions to appear, you need to create them when you edit your photo in Photoshop, BEFORE you upload them to Joomla. For more info click here.

2. IF ALL OF YOUR PHOTOS IN ONE PROJECT ARE PART OF THE SLIDESHOW:
I created a sample one here.
First you need to make sure you have uploaded all the photos you want to put in your slideshow, according to the photo uploading tutorial. In addition, if you have other images in your project beside the gallery, you will need to put the photos you want in the gallery into a separate folder, which you can do in the same place where you upload photos. Once you have created the folder
Then open up your story and scroll down to the bottom of the page to the image manager. Select the correct photo folder and then move the images you want for the slide show from Gallery Images into Content Images. Then you need to add a caption as well as “Alt Text” (a kind of super-caption in the gallery) into the boxes for each photo. BE SURE to click “Apply” each time or your captions won’t be saved.

Once you have done that, scroll back up to your text box, and type: {smoothgallery} in the location where you’d like to put your photo gallery. Then save.

Your gallery will be auto-magically generated. If you’re registered and logged in you can see what it looks like here.
